Is there a program that can extract AC3 audio streams from a VOB and keep them in AC3 format? Is there also a program that can handle the AC3 data, so at a later time it could be converted or whatnot?

If I were to use the AC3 data as the audio in a DivX, is there a player that could use the AC3 data? I am also aware that Flask can copy AC3 out of VOB's, but I want a program to do only this. I don't want to have to process the video just to be able to copy out the audio.

How bout a player that can play divx and use AC3 streams?

If you have a software DVD player, such as WinDVD, it can play such files. If not, you'll have to download and install (register to Windows) the MPEG2 filters (iviaudio.ax and ivivideo.ax). Once this is done, Windows Media Player (as well as others) will be capable of playing .AVI (including DivX-formatted) files with .AC3 audiostreams.

It did work. I found a modified version of Virtual Dub that lets you multiplex ac3 into DivX. It also came with those .ax files. WiMP can play it. I outputted it to my theatre system, and it sounded great. Thanks for all the help everyone!
