Cant compress divx - Virtual Dub Error

when i try to compress an avi (divx) file so it fixes into one cd-rom, there are some files that when they reach a certain frame an error occurs. The error that appears is the following: VideoSourceAVI(ICDecopressor):unespecifies error(-100)
How can i solve tha problem?
the software i used was VirtualDul 1.48. the final file format was also divx. with the most of the avi (divx) file this works, but with some that error occurs. How can i solve this problem??
    thanks

"when they reach a certain frame an error occurs. "

Does the orignal .AVI play through this "certain frame" without hesitation?

yes; when i play the movie, it "goes" through the certain frame.

          From VirtualDub's dropdown "Help" file:

"Microsoft does not allow the use of their MPEG-4 codec in AVI files. As a result, they have locked the MPEG-4 codec driver accordingly so that it only functions with the ASF encoding tools. All other applications receive cryptic errors (ICERR_ERROR) on both compression and decompression requests."

This sounds like what you're describing - in which case you'd have to download the codecs, which are undoubtedly included in one of the several codec "packs" available at DVD Digest/DivX Digest and elsewhere.

I have encountered similiar problem as well
            an error message:
Not supported: Microsoft owns Patent #6041345 on the asf file format, preventing third party application from extracting data from asf files.

hm... can you explain more specifically how to fix this problem?
As your earlier post, you mentioned that this problem can be solved easily using one of the codec pack, but i don't know exactly which one to download and install.

            thank you~~

Yours error message is entirely different - and relatively easy to address. Download the specially modified version of VirtualDub13c-ASF, which will accept .ASF files (and some .WMV files) for input.
