5.1 home theater

Hi: I buy a new 5.1 home theater... how can i do to configurate the sound card to enable it?
I have an ali sound card (integrated), and the 5.1 system it's pluged with the simple classic connection (like normal pc speakers).

The problem, that i mean, source becuase when i try to play a dvd movie (with powerdvd 5 xp full or windvd last one), and i select the 6 channel audio mode (in audio options), the central channel (the one that transmits the voices) almost dissapear. If i select the 4 channel mode, works great... but i would use all the 5.1 potencial .

May be the soundcard no compatible?
Or ac3 filter?

What can i do?

It's probably the sound card. Unless it specifically says "5.1" on the box it usually isn't.
