capturing - Black and white with jumpy image???

Hi, I was trying to capture some PAL vhs with my ATI Rage Fury Pro video card and Virtual Dub, but all i got was some black and white videos with jumpy images/frames. How can I fix it?
It works fine with my NTSC vhs...

    Thanks

The only times I've heard of B/W capture problems has turned out to be when something somewhere was set for NTSC...and the the source tape was PAL (or vice versa.)

So how do you set VD to capture PAL?

When under file you click "capture" another screen pops up with a "capture" header...in there you'l find a number of options. I don't use VD for capture...so that's as far as I can take you.

Did any capture software come bundled with your card? Any video software can capture in PAL...you just have to select the PAL templates during the capture/edit/author and burning phases....and watch the DVD on a PAL machine....you have to be consistant throughout. Even the VCR you play the tape on has to be PAL.

My ATI card comes with ATI multimedia center, which has TV in (capture) function with it. However, it has nowhere for me to set anything about pal/ntsc or resolution..

If you have XP somewhere on your machine you'll find MS Movie Maker 2 which comes bundled. You can always check out a trial version of ULead Video Studio 7 or Pinnacle Studio 8 or 9. With Video Studio 7 when it first opens you are presented with a number of templates...select "capture...and then select the PAL DVD template. After capture, be sure the PAL DVD template is selected when going to the storyboard phase to finish. ALSO....make sure you play the tape on a PAL VCR while capturing
