    Media or player problem?

I have been using DVD Shrink and CopyToDVD to backup and burn movies for several months without a problem. Now I am finding that sometimes I burn a DVD that will play fine on my pc's internal player, but won't play on my standalone Panasonic RV31 player. I am using either Sony DVD+R or Memorex DVD+RW media. The DVD+RW media always work fine, but the Sonys sometimes do and sometimes don't.

The question: Is it likely that I bought a case containing defective DVD+R media, or could there be some other explanation why some won't play. (When I put the DVDs into the player, they spin, make awful noises, and either don't load at all or begin to play (just the first several frames) and then stop.

I'd appreciate any suggestions about what to do. Thanks so much!

"but the Sonys sometimes do and sometimes don't."

Perhaps that's why Sony recently announced they'll no longer manufacture their own burnable DVD's...

Thanks, setarip. I have 3 unopened cases of Sony DVD+Rs that are going straight back to Staples!
