    Help please

    Hello

I´m a brazilian producer, who sells downloads and DVD movies.
I would like to make an update on our way of making DVD and download because some of our customers are complaining about our download quality.

This is the process we currently use:

    1º I film a certain movie using a Mini-DV tape.
2º I capture this movie using a Pinnacle DV 8 video card.
3º To make the DVD, I use Maestro DVD.
4º I then use Nero to burn the DVD.

    Process to make the download
5º I get the DVD(burned) and convert it into AVI format using Advanced DVD Ripper.
6º I get the AVI file and convert it into a MPEG1 (three parts) using Ulead Studio with these settings:

    MPEG1
    Constant 5000kbps
    Audio Stereo 64kbps - 32000hz
Audio and Video - 29.97 fps
    and 320x240 size.

    PS: A movie with 60min has 250mb.

Anyway, my question is: "Does anybody know any other method that is faster, better and has a smaller file size than the process I currently use???

Thanks for your attention... Any help would be great!

    "MPEG1

    Audio Stereo 64kbps - 32000hz
Audio and Video - 29.97 fps
    and 320x240 size."
1150kbps is the standard for mpeg 1 (352x240) The lower bitrate would produce a much smaller file size. For mpeg 1 eliminate steps 3-5 and use Ulead Studio to convert the avi file to mpeg 1. This would save time going to dvd, back to avi, and back to mpeg 1. You should get better quality by not re-ecoding as many times.

Do you recommend me make MPEG2 or MPEG4 movies?

Do you think that MPEG2 and MPEG4 have better quality and smaller file size than MPEG1?

Depending on the resolution of your source video. If your source is full D1 (720x480) I would use either mpeg2 to retain quality and compatibility with dvd players or mpeg4 for file size, and if encoded properly I've seen mpeg4 videos that rival fulldvd quality at app. 5-6 x smaller file size. Bitrate determines your final file size. Dvd uses app.4000k-8000k compared to app. 1000k for mpeg4.

            If you care about quality...

            - Capture the DV content lossless (Huffyuv)

            - Process it through AviSynth for filtering n' editing

            - Feed VDubMod with AviSynth script to encode

            - For low/medium bitrates (downloads) use DivX5

            - For high/insane bitrates (storage/media) use XviD

            Btw, just for interest...

You sell downloads n' DVD's made with Mini-DV cam ???

What content is it, p0rn maybe...

            Bye

Yes, its a porn content (fetish movies) you can see some bonus clips at www.fetishinbrazil.com. At Fetish in Brazil you can see our download quality, because bonus clips has the same quality!

                    To Leomfx:

I would also experiment with DVD to OGM conversion in addition to Divx/Xvid. Refer to the following guide for some tips:

A guide on converting a DVD to a DivX or XviD encoded Ogm file

check here for a video comparison of mpeg4 codecs http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/codecs-203-1.htm
In the conclusion section quote "and the winner is xvid".
