    Resolution for SVCD

    Hello All,

I am new this forum. I am having problems with the resolution when making SVCDs. I am using Pinnacle Studio 8. I have been getting good results but the resloution is kinda fuzzy when I play it on my DVD player. I tried saving the file as a MPEG2 for DVD and then using TMPGnc to multiplex it to a VCD header, and that worked okay but the resolution is still not clear as it needs to be.
    Thanks.

VCD and SVCD are two different mpeg formats. When you say: "I tried saving the file as a MPEG2 for DVD and then using TMPGnc to multiplex it to a VCD header", this cannot be correct as VCD is mpeg 1 NOT mpeg 2-totally different framerates and bitrates. Are you using the "Project Wizard" in TMPGEnc for the encoding process? Also, what is the source video that you are trying to convert to SVCD?

What I ment to say was that I was changing the header in the MPEG to a VCD header. Here is the link that I was using as a guide.

the source vider was shot on a DV camcorder and placed in Studio 8. The video is fine but the titles and overlays are blurry. The letters lack sharpness and I need to get higher res pics for the still shots. Also my DVD player will not play SVCD only VCD. that is why I was changing the header in the MPEG.

Hope that this explains all of this better.

      Thanks for the reply.

It does, thanks..I forgot about the header trick, as I have never really used that function in TMPGEnc. Have you tried to edit the stills in a paint program such as PhotoShop in order to sharpen the still images?

Yes I have. I think that the pics that I am using are just not the quality that i need. it will be no problem to get better ones. These are just stock photos that I took to have some reference points. I just can't seem to get the titles in Pinnacle Studio to generate a crisp overlay. The opening titles are okay but the credits are very fuzzy. Any ideas?

I thought about using Photoshop to make them an use them as jpegs but then I would still have to use titledeko to make the rolls and crawls. That is what is fuzzy.

Thanks for all the help and replys
