I'm pretty new to this program. Can someone tell me what this program is good for (I know a lot of people prefer this program over nandub for some unknown reasons). What type of file does it output (other than MPEG)? Also, are there guides to using this program around? I've not been able to find it in Digital-digest.

vcdhelp.com contains guides on TMPGEnc.
Basically, TMPGEnc is used to convert avi's (mostly divx) to the mpeg format, vcd, or svcd. You might be able to output to other formats by selecting "output to file" under the "file" menu. -
it is also good for merging and cutting mpegs as well as muxing and demuxing.john boy
