copy wont play on my regular dvd player

I am new to burning dvd's a friend of mine install dvd shrink on my computer and put in a dvd burner. I copied one dvd but it will not play on my stand alone dvd player can someone tell me why and what do i need to do to get copies to play on a stand alone dvd player any help is appreciated

I would start of by checking your standalone supports the media you are using. Have a look at: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
