Joining/Playing avi attachments from newsgroups

I want to be able to save video attachments downloaded from newsgroups, then join and play them. If I download via Outlook Express they seem to be converted to a .dbx format which cannot be accessed through the joiners or players I have installed. How can I save the attachment in its original format to somewhere other than Outlook Express to later join and play them?

No response from the Newbie group so I thought I'd try here.

Have you attempted to "Right-click" on the attachment(s) and "Save Target As" and specify a location on your HD? Also, instead of using Outlook, try and use a dedicated newsreader application such as "Agent"
