Converting mpeg2

I need to convert mpeg2 into a simple uncompressed avi for editing. I have tried flaskMPEG but I can't get past 4gb file-size.

Mainly what i want to do is edit the material from a hi8 camcorder I have a hauppage wintv card for capturing the video. With the original software i can only get mpeg2.

So I either need a way to convert the file from mpeg2 or a program to capture it in avi from the hauppage card.

Use TMPGEnc to split the MPEG2 into two files, as follows:

TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

You must have your HD formatted as FAT32. If this is true, there is no way that you will be able to work with uncompressed AVIs as the file sizes will most likely be well beyond the 4 Gig file size limitation.

Although you MAY be right in guessing that "miramax" has a FAT32 setup, he/she is referring to a limitation of FlaskMPEG. Depending upon which .AVI (standard or Open DML) output is selected, FlaskMPEG is limited to either 2Gb or 4Gb...
