Video with subtitle

i have divx movie file and subtitle file(SMI).

i like to covert to VCD format but cant get the subtitle on it.
how can i make subtitle on VCD format?
i like to play on dvd player on TV set.

You can use VirtualDub, with its "subtitler" filter, to first convert your DivX-compressed .AVI to one with PERMANENT subtitles. Then convert this new .AVI to VCD format...

thanx for info.
tried the program ...and it worked fine except one thing.
the subtitle file(SMI) is in other language ...so when i covert to ssa file using subtitle workshop, all the letters were corrupted.
probably will try other subtitle coverter program...
if you know anything to work....please give me any suggestion.
