Backround music in menu? (TMPGEnc DVD Author)

Is it possible to add backround music to the menu I created? I didnt see anything in the help section or their website, but I thought I would ask just to be sure.

I don't believe this is possible with "TMPGEnc DVD Author", but it might be with "DVD Lab"

Yes this is possible with a motion menu, but the one time I tried it, the music only played on page 2/2 of the menu & not page 1. So i'm not sure that it works very well.

(Either that or I have no idea what I'm doing which is a distinct possibility.)

How did you get as far as to have the music playing on 2/2?
This is what it says in the help section.

Select whether to use BGM for the menu or not. When a picture in an MPEG-1 or an MPEG-2 file is specified as a background picture, the audio from these files will be played. The audio has to be MPEG-1 Audio Layer2 or Linear PCM. (AC-3 cannot be used).

How do you combine audio with a picture?

Ahh... forgot there was a trick to it.

I had to use TMPGEnc to make an MPEG with the video input as a picture, and audio input as desired sound file if I recall. It may have even been a little more complicated than that.

Glad to hear the "Motion Menu" settings solved your dilemma!

I read the menu settings before starting this thread, I just had no idea that you could use a picture for a video input file.

Yeah, when I ran into that problem I just tried it to see if TMPGEnc would accept a still picture as video input, and it did.

Strange to think that since both programs are made by the same company that they wouldn't document that process more clearly...

I would if I were them. Maybe change it to video/picture input?

Yeah or they could just let you use a sound file with the menu in TMPGEnc DVD Author... But hey, Beggars can't be choosers
