Applying Filters

Is there any particular or preferred way to apply filters such as brightness and color,etc? For example sould color filters be applied before sharpness?

I'm a beginner using VirtualDub to transfer VHS to .avi. Once you preview and adjust a filter setting and apply it, when you move to the next filter, should this filter's preview reflect the changes of the previous one?

No, it will only reflect the effect of the selected filter on the still unaltered video.

I believe if you go to Donald Graft's site, you'll find some information regarding proper/preferred sequencing of application of filters.

I checked out this site and it has been very helpful but I haven't found quite what I'm looking for yet. I will keep looking though.

i ve tried some filter using but i didnt get any good results that would make it a sense to use it
additionally the use of filters depends a lot on the video u got and there are many differences between all the videos out there to give any good filter use suggestions at all (this filter combo would be eventually good for this video, but not so good for this video and so on)

Yes, I find it very diffcult to acheive much improvement with filtering also.

I would like to make some color and brightness on capture. The best way I've found ,with my particular setup, to get a decent capture is with VirtualDub.

The software with my ATI Rage Fury Pro 32mb video card is quirky to say the least. Sometimes I can capture flawlessly and other times I'm dropping 10 frames in 100.

FreeVcr is OK but I can't seem to be able to capture audio.

With VirtualDub I can capture Video and audio and it rarely drops more than one frame in 2500.

Anyone know how I can preview changes such as color and brightness before or during capture with VirtualDub?
