BSPlayer & others unable to load this .sub

    Hi
I have a particular rare doco .avi with an 8 meg accompanying .sub file. BSplayer, and 3 other players that have sub loading functions all are unable to load this file. I've also found a differently named vers of the same .sub file which won't work either. (BSplayer is loading other .srt files here just fine)

I've tried renaming the .sub to a .srt and that doesn't work.

Any help for a fix greatly appreaciated...

    TIA........

there are different subtitle formats that use the .sub extension (one of them is bitmap based, as opposed to text based).

Try subtitle workshop to convert them to srt (subrip srt format is very simple and it is time-based, so frame rate doesn't matter)

the size of the *.sub file indicates that the *.sub file is not
a plain text format along with timestamps. it is rather a sequence
            of images being transparently displayed.
normally *.sub are created for microDVD would you like to try
the micro DVD player to display your movie?

if this is the microdvd subtitle format there are also some
converting tools to convert them to SRT. via ocr method.
check out the subtitle software page

have you followed the other suggestions about the converters??
                especially Qyds one???

now I think that your *.sub file might be also encoded in mjpeg
or mpeg4 ... can you give us some hints where you got it from??
or at least who has encoded it???

Yes, I've followed all the suggestions including Qyd's and have tried every utility from the link you kindly supplied. I can't get many of the DOS utilities to work unfortunatley....

I got this file off emule 4 days ago or so. It is called:

                  Sobibor 14 Octobre 1943.16 Heures.sub (8.12 meg)

The avi of the same name plays fine. I've no idea who encoded it.

Thanks again Shiny#3.... Is it simply a bad file maybe? But surely whoever did it must have made sure it worked....
