Picture doesnt fit to TV size

    Hallo all,

My DVD movie is ready for burning, the picture is DVD standard size and fits perfectly in the DVD player on my computer. That is 4:3 --> 720x576

Now, I take the fresh burned DVD to my DVD-player at my TV corner, put it in and...what!!?? The picture doesnt fit. Its like somebody zoomed in my movie some 20-50 lines or more!

When I check the Encore Preview window, and switch on "safe areas" markings, I can se that the "safe area" is like the size of my TV output.

But why the heck?? Shall I shrink the ratio to the safe area or what else did I miss?

Would be really grateful to hear the answer, as Im some noob on this.

    regards,

    Zoors

If you are in the NTSC "world", the proper resolution is 720x480 (720x576 is the proper resolution in the PAL "world")...

        Hey, thx for quick replys.
Yeah, im in da PAL world.
And, thanks for the "overscan" lead, Soulhunter.

Now, a PAL screen is 625 lines...and the visible part is 576.
576 is what my m2v-file is.

So, Encore is somehow transcodin these 574 lines into 625 in such manner, that about 50 lines disappear???

I cant see no other explanation. I have the PAL preset selected, but it feels like im in NTSC land anyway for some reason.

        ....PAL

        NTSC

Do you run into the same problem if you playback a COMMERCIAL PAL DVD on your TV?

No, that is not the problem, far as I know.

I think I solved it by adding a Track Video FX called Deform, and zoomed out the image exactly in within the safe area. (Vegas 5.0)
