    I've downloaded a whole movie and when I try to play it back, I can here the sound but no image appears on the screen. I'm using microsoft media player. Does anyone know what's wrong?

    surley you are missing the proper audio codec....

    but with no informatio on your file we can not determine what you
    are missing

    load you movie into Gspot or movieID or a similar movie analizing
    program and post here what it says.

    well, since most configurations can read wav / mp3 and mpeg2 codecs i guess you might miss an ac3 codec.
    but this is only a shot into the blue.


    please give us more info about your movie.

      eschicke: I hope the "whole movie" you downloaded was not pirated, as that would be against forum rules:



      As for your problem, it should be the video codec problem, as you can hear the sound, but not the video (and it doesn't sound like a fake, since there is audio). Do what shiny#3 says and use Gspot to determine which video codec your video uses, and then download/install it.

        How do you call a country that with no reason, legal right, violating the Nato standards, and concealing economic interests, invades a country and kill thousand of poeple... isn't that piracy??

        That's probably your country and the same that protect authors copyright!

        But everything is ok as long as you have some dollars for you hamburger.
