WMV's won't play in Windows Media Player anymore...

I recently installed a codec pack containing ffdshow, and according to someone I asked, ffdshow took over WMV decoding, or something along those lines. Can anyone tell me how to fix this, because he didn't know how. All he could tell me was to check the ffdshow config, in which I couldn't find anything that fixed the problem.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I really need to know how to fix this. It's preventing me from watching any streaming media, if there's any on a page the entire thing locks up. I would greatly appreciate any help on the subject.

if the ffd show codec is causing your problem do deinstall it, as
            setarip said......outdatetd ..anyway...

then get the following codecs vor mpeg 4 videos only.
Divx pro, xvid, the microsoft mpeg4 codecs.
the last one can be downloaded at MS homepage as well as at sourceforge.

in case not beeing able to get hold of the codecs MS mpeg 4 v1/2/3

            go here

if youchoose the DIVX pro codec to support generic mpeg 4
you should be able to display most mpeg4 codecs smoothley

having installed the ms codecs supports your mediaplayer
as well as other players. but I recommend a decent mpeg4 player
such as BSplayer or mv2 player.... BS player uses very little
            system resources.

you can set the ffd show codec to display only the codecs you want in the settings... in this case do not choose mpeg4 . ms mpeg4.
