there are single-layered dvds (4.7GB) and dual-layered dvds (8.4GB). your writer probably is single layer. To burn your dvd onto 1 disc, you must compress it first. download and install a program called "dvd shrink", and then check out the guides at http://www.dvdshrink.info

    good luck

Yes, a lot of people have problems with XCopy. I have had many many problems with XCopy myself on 2 different computers. Download shrink for free. XCopy WILL let you compress movies to fit on one disk though, you just have your options set up wrong.

well when i first put the disk in and run x copy
it asks me if i want to make it a 2 disk dvd with special features
or take off the special features
and make it a 1 disk
but when i select the 1 disk part
and it switches over to the next page it still has some items in the bottom half of the screen that cannot be removed

does the software u mentioned let u burn a movie with all the features just like it was a bought one

        help
        thanks

Yes, DVD Shrink lets you do just about anything. Full backup or just the main title. I usually use just the main title so I don't have to wait and pick through all the menus. The quality is excellent too.

Does it do the same thing on your computer? You could just have a bad burn, but most likely you got a bad piece of media. This is a common problem if you don't use premium quality DVD's. Try Ritek disks.

the default settings are fine in shrink... you really don't need to change anything.

most people just use nero to burn their discs immediately, but if you want to burn it later, i recommend outputting to an ISO.

The settings in shrink aren't going to affect whether you have problems with freezing or skipping. If you are really particular about quality, turn on deep analysis, but this will make bakups take a good bit longer. Saving to hard disk and making an image bothwork just fine.

                            hey guys
i have a new problem ive been breaking my head all night
well i was able to burn that first movie like i said
but now all my outher movies that i try dont work
                            they all say
                            faile to read file
copy protection error-the read fail because the sector is encrypted
its doing this on all my movies
                            with a deep analyze
and even if i skip the deep analyze and go strait to the backup button it does it in that step to
all the different dvds i tried only go up to about 45 % then that window pops up with those errors
                            please help
im pulling my hair out of my head
                            thanks
