+R DVDs don't burn some of the time

I have backed up several DVDs using TDK +R's but on the last 2 attempts, Shrink says that it has successfully backed up the DVD, but when I try to read or play the blank, the computer doesn't recognize that a DVD is even in the drive and says please insert a disk.

    Is this a media problem?

I would think that TDK should be a decent brand.

A lot of "decent" brands seem to have about 25% failure rates.

"but when I try to read or play the blank, the computer doesn't recognize that a DVD"

Did you by any chance switch the "Type" of media from (+R) to (-R, RW)?

I only use DVD+'s because they play in my DVD Player.

If a 25% failure rate is common, then maybe I need to take it up with TDK.

          Hi there.

If you dvd burner is compatible with both -/+ formats then I would strongly recommend that you use -r because of their near absolute compatibility with all standalone DVD players and drives.

I recommend you try the Zero Defex xtreme Purple from www.cd-rmedia.co.uk

These disk are Rytek G04 really sold under a diferent brand because Rytek bought Zero Defex out... The name says it all.

they can send you a trial pack for under £10 or you can buy 25 disks for £0.49pence each.

+R I will only use if they are free. regardless of brand.

Can you also tell me how many disks have you had this result with? More than 2?

The version of Nero you are using
The drive you used to burn this and the firmware version

Could be faulty media or dirty laser on the drive.

            Let me know ok?
