Also, when start the movie it work OK for the first minute, but then the sound is heard before appropriate picture is shown...

In Virtual Dub "change framerate so that audio and video durations match"

If that does not work, try synchronizer--manually adjust audio and/or video framerates. Be careful, however it could ruin your movie if you do not follow the proper procedure.

Audio sync, nobody ever states the obvious

Have you encoded the movie with the right fps?.
'Unbreakable' was litterally unbreakable as far as
audio sync problems went until I realized that it was
made in 29.97 fps as opposed to the bog standard
      25.
Otherwise, manually adjust portions of the film where
you can tell there is a big audio sync problem using
      virtual dub, v. tedious though!!

The problem could also be caused by the CPU being not fast enough to reproduce the video so that the video is being drawn more slowly than the audio generated. How fast is your processor again? 433MHZ, if I remember correctly?

          audio

          i didn't encode that file...

so it is possible that video is, say playing at 25fps, while audio is playing at 30fps and thus always ahead...

using avsync i can manually change video frame rate. I incresed it from 25 to 23.976 and it was better, still little ahead but much better.

Is there a way to "strip" video/audio apart and the encode it again with correct values?
