Easy Video Editing Software

Hi, I have a few .mpg files that I'd like to edit. Nothing Major, I just want to combine them all together and cut off a few minutes in each. What is a good, simple to use program that would allow me to do this, but that also allows you to save the file in the original .mpg format.

I tried using the Windows Movie Maker that came with my PC, but it wants to save the files as .wmv and I need them to be .mpg.

Yes, it's the best software of editing mpeg and encoding them
