    pioneer 105 dvd-rw stopped reading dvd's (still reads cd's)

pop in a cd, spins up and reads fine

pop in a dvd, and just just kinda makes a little knocking noise every few seconds and doesnt read anything

i cleaned the laser, took it apart, cleaned every thing and made sure connections were tight, put it back together, same thing.

latest firmware. happened out of no where.

is there any hope or is it time for the garbage?

its only like a year old. this sucks.

    Hi there xdjoynerx

    This is bad news indeed...

But does this happens with all the DVD's?

I supose you may experience general drive freezing if you try and Explore the DVD's.

About the firmware. Did you ever flash it with non official firmware?

Can you Upload a Infotool read out of your drive please.

    Thankx

It may be a case it needs some calibration done. The read CD and DVD parameters are different from each other wilst one reads the other doesnt as you describe.

other than that I dont have any more ideas since I dont have anymore information about this.

            send it in for service

Or if that costs enough to warrant buyng a new one than, well, I would.

I would not buy a DL drive just yet though.

            Good things
