    No sound!!!

    Hello all.
I am VERY new to the board. I have a question that I am sure has been answered a million times over. Tonight I ripped & burned my purchased copy (really) of "Passion of the Christ" using Shrink3.2 & Roxio 6.0. I read in a post on here that there is not supposed to be any files in the Audio TS file, but that the audio should be contained in the Video TS file. So I assumed that it was o.k. to burn. I also assumed that I did not need any special codecs to copy/burn a "store-bought" disk, but I could have been wrong. When I did burn the disk -(menus,titles,chapters,everything! ) including the picture quality was superb, just no audio

ALSO- there was no audio while in preview mode during the analysis and encoding procedure.

    Please HELP the Nube.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that you did not "Uncheck" the main audio stream by mistake before you performed your backup?

I don't think I "unchecked" anything. Besides, how would I know which one was the "main audio stream"? When I have the main title highlighted..............there are '3' audio ops'.....2-ac3 & 1-dts. I don't believe I unchecked any of these.............are you perhaps referring to some other streams?

      Thanks again.

"Besides, how would I know which one was the "main audio stream"?"

The usual main audio stream will be the one that is "Ch-2 5.1 - ac3" or something similar. Also, look at the size (MB) of the audio stream. Most likely, it will be the largest one in terms of size.

I know now that I did not "uncheck" any ops' having to do with audio! I guess the related problem (drawing on my previous comment) is that even before I choose to anylize/rip the movie, there is no audio in the preview window. Is there supposed to be, I thought there was, so that you can after all "preview" it? I really need a solution to this.

Go to "Edit" > "Preferences" and click the "Preview" tab. Is "Enable video and audio preview" checked?

Have you attempted to play the backup in a "Software" DVD player such as "WinDVD" or PowerDVD"? Is the audio present? Also, as an experiment, backup the DVD again but this time "Uncheck" the DTS audio stream - leaving just the ac3 stream.

Yeah, I played it in PowerDVD just now................but to no avail! I guess I'll try to 'back-it-up' again without the DTS encoding. I'll let you know................thanks ormonde.

It sounds as if you need to install an Ac3 codec.

Yeah ormonde, I tried to re-rip the disk excluding the DTS encoding, and still no sound in the finished rip nor while previewing.........................have you ever heard of something so strange???

I don't know where to find an AC3 codec....................my only experience with codecs came in the form of a 'codec pack" I got off of Kazaa. Any help as to where to find the needed codec would be very appreciated.

Thanks for your help and patience.

Uninstall the "Codec Pack" you got from Kazaa and install the Ac3 Filter. Get it here:

                          1) Have you tried playing the burned DVD on a standalone DVD player? If so, use either the remote or the onscreen DVD menu to select a different audiostream.

                          2) Re-post your question in the DVD Shrink-specific sub-forum(s) here - and read the many similar questions and posted responses there...
