video locking

i have this problem..

every time i play a movie using no matter what player , a scene in movie locks for about a 0.5 s then movie continues to play as it played content dring lock-up. this happens very often, about every 5-10s no matter if I resize the movie to 50%, change sound res. to 22050kHz, use another divx codec...

like the computer locks-up for moment and then plays on...

Are you playing the videos from your hard drive or your CD/DVD player? (If the problem is only CD/DVD player, have you tried turning on or off that drive's DMA?)

What format(s) are the videos?

Did you create them, or did you download them?

i'm playing from hdd, format is divx coded with divx4 4.12 codec or 3.11 divx3,

i've downloaded files ... but then i send some portion through Virtualdub and lower audio sampling rate from 48000 to 44100(22050) and used different audio codecs


i'll try to turn off DMA (it is turned ON now!), but it is supposed to be better with DMA ON...
