    DVD shirnk-- save as AVI??

    Hey all!!!!
Ok, I'm new to video Editing and am doing it for the church. I have been asked to take a clip from a DVD and edit it in as part of my video. What I can gather is that I need to save the DVD to my computer as a AVI or Mpeg so that I can "cut out" what I do/don't need. Is there a free program that will allow me to do this? I was looking at DVD shirk, but will not be able to download it and see what it will/won't allow me to do till tonight. In DVD shrink can I save it as a AVI file to my PC so that I can extract what I want?

    Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on the speed of your computer, the codec used, the amount of compression, and probably about 1000 other things.

thanks for the help. I attempted this last night, but my ATI program will not open the output.

As stated above, I'm fairly new to this and want to say think you in advance for your input.

Is there a fairly inexpensive program that will let me do this--
I want to put a DVD in my internal DVD player on my AMD PC. cue it to a certian point, capture that clip, save it to my HD as a AVI or Mpeg. Once it is save to my HD, open my Adobe premire project, and import so that I can use it in my project.

            Or...
Capture the whole movie, save the the whole thing as AVI or Mpeg. the import the whole thing in Adobe, and dice and cut from there.

Agian thanks for any and all comments....

DVD2AVI can do either of these things.

Check out some guides at http://www.videohelp.com

I'm not seeing any guides or help files or DVD2AVI. But I do see them for Gordian Knot, will this work the same. Agian sorry to ask what seem to be simple questions.

hey Ignignot (or any one else)
As stated above I could not find any help with DVD2AVI but did come across others. One that looks like it would be user freindly is DVDx. Any pros or cons?

                  Thanks a Million!!!!
