    Help!!!!

I ripped many movies While having windows 98 installed , now xp is installed , some of my movies have an invalid format error message when I try to play them. Why? is it the windows media player? How can I fix this?

    Gary.

Have you installed the codecs and plug-ins yet?

I assume you're trying to play the movies you ripped into presumably DivX.

Were these files working before? And did they have any sort of special properties, like AC3 soundtrack? Try running the movies using other players and determine if it's your system or just WMP.

For WMP? A reformat should cure it all...if you're willing to do. But if other players can handle the movies, then just use them. Personally, I find WMP looking dull, even if it's fast.

XP is bloatware to me. It does not feel any different from Win2K and it has small, but many, annoying problems. I don't give a damn about its faster boot-up and being a newer version. Recently, I removed it from one of my systems and decided to stick with my good ol' Win2K.

Now, if only I could find the motivation to learn Linux...
