    Slight Skipping, Not Consistant Though?

    Not a complete newb here, completed quite a few backups with total sucess. using shrink 3.2 now and Nero 6 Ultra. Window XP machine both desktop and notebook. Aprox 98% success so not a HUGE issue, but still.

    Problem: I have had over my many movies that a couple will either skip, pause periodically, or completely stop when actually playing on both PCs and DVD players. Some i was able to reburn and others i have yet to try again. Would you think this to be problems or settings with software. I have only changed to the settings that were on the how to section of DVD shrink website. My media has pretty much been memorex and some Sony Spindles from WORSTBUY. Didn't want to defete the purpose of backing up and spend more then the movie it self on blanks. but anywho, Any ideas. I noticed they have really dropped the price on some of the SONY Digital Media DVDs and wondering if there has been any luck on those. Sorry to ramble on. Thanks all in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    To find out if it is in the burning process or in the playing process you have your problem - do this test;

    Download www.dvdinfopro.com (freeware) insert one of your burned disc and selelct the option "Test your media for CRC read errors" - if you only get green dots you know that your burning is ok and it is the player that causes the problem. If you get any read dots - you know something else.

    Memorex is not a good media.

      These are probably the last vestiges of burnable media actually manufactured by SONY. If so, stay away. Due to manufacturing quality problems, SONY no longer manufactures their own burnable DVD media (Outsourced to others who manufacture under the SONY name)

        What brand would you all recommend that you have not had any issues with. Thanks

          Agree with setarip. Sony and Memorex are both media to stay away from.

          Good media: Verbatim , Ritek, TDK, Fuji, Maxell. The pricedifference with 4x or 8x media is not very high compared to "no names" discs.
