MP43 Compressor

Please help,
I have been trying to convert audio from a film clip using virtualddub, but it comes up with the message "couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP43'.
Can any one tell me where I can get this compressor.
I have tryed the Web with no luck or is there another way of doing this conversion?
