Converting 3ivx to mpeg, mp4, mpg

I use a digital camera to record video and when I load it onto the computer it is in the 3ivx format which I can only play in RealPlayer. I would like to know if, (and how) it is possible to convert the file to mpeg or something which can be played through Win Media Player (10). The reason for this is because I would like to be able to use Movie Maker to edit the movies then burn them to a CD so they can be viewed on a DVD/VCD player.

Your help would be gratefully recieved on this matter,

    1) Make sure you have the 3IVX codec installed on your system

    2) Use TMPGEnc to convert your 3IVX-compressed .AVI file to MPEG format

      Thanks for the help but....

Hi thanks for the help. I downloaded TMPGEnc but it says that the 3ivx file is not supported for conversion. It is actually a .mov file when the program tries to access it I think. Does this help?

"It is actually a .mov file"

Then you'll have to download and install the (freeware) QT Reader plugin for TMPGEnc...
