    Need help with Audio.

    Ok, here's my problem.

I'm trying to capture a program from VHS in MPEG2 for DVD.
The problem is the audio has a terrible high pitched hiss in it.
Is there a program to fix audio in MPEG2's?

    My setup...
    P4 3Ghz
    1Gig Ram
Capture using ATI TV WONDER PRO

Does your "ATI TV WONDER" have regular "RCA" type inputs for audio and video? If not, what kind of connectors does it have?

      Yes, it does.

I might add that the audio is usually fine.
It's just the audio from this one certain vhs tape where it's not.

"Is there a program to fix audio in MPEG2's?"

You could give either "CoolEdit" or "Goldwave" a try. You will first have to "Demultiplex" the audio stream from the video, then use one of the aforementioned audio editors to attempt to fix the audio. To "Demultiplex" then "Multiplex" your audio file, use a program called "TMPGEnc" or "TMPGEnc Plus".

Is there something different regarding the way this particualr tape was recorded (e.g. LP or EP mode, rather than SP mode)?

If so, make sure that when capturing, the VCR is set to the same speed as that at which the tape was recorded...

Thanks for the help guys. It's greatly appreciated.

I've worked GREAT wonders using both TMPGEnc Plus and CoolEdit Plus.

These two programs together make my dvd's look even better than I could have ever imagined. Both easy to use and learn for beginners. That's without even reading much about them.

            I'd recommend these to anyone.

I've not only used them with that one video with the terrible audio. But to take the hiss out of ALL of my captures. Sound quality is greatly improved.

            I can't thank you enough.
