    hope someone can help me

i have been using dvd shrink for about two weeks now, and it has been great. the last time i tried to use it when i went to open disk it said it could not initiate the aspi device. i am pulling my hair trying to get it fixed. i have looked everywhere for info but no luck. if anybody can help me i will greatly appreciate it.

    Does your Burning software work?

Try re-installing Nero as Shrink uses Nero to burn.

Have you downloaded or installed anything recently?
What OS are you? If XP. can you do a System Restore?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

Try unistalling Nero. Then use Nero clean (available free from Nero). Nero prog apparently leaves some files / registry entries behind when it is un installed, which can in some cases affect the re-installation process of Nero. Then re-install Nero.. Has worked for some in the past...
If it ain't afloat .... It's sunk .... If it ain't broke.... leave it alone.... I was once indecisive....Now I'm not sure....

I'm old enough to know better...BUT...too young to give a toss...

As "sfheath" suggested, perform a "System Restore" - back to the last time things were working properly...

Do a google search of "force aspi". It will tell you where to d/l the force aspi. I think you can d/l it in the tools section here also www.videohelp.com.

Does any other software open the dvd burner? Can you play a dvd with your Dvd software? Check in control panel under hardware and make sure it's listed and enabled. Try uninstalling the ide controller in control panel and reboot your computer to reinstall the native windows drivers.

If, as part of your NERO installation, you have installed InCD, UNinstall that program (InCD)...
