Well I'm not sure what you mean by "legitimate business" for downloading movies. Are you paying somone that says that you can download Motion Picture Movies legitimately?

Or are you saying for instance that you are downloading the Company's Year End BBQ Video and want to burn it to DVD?
    Cheers!

      legitimate

Good question. I have downloaded a movie, which allows me to view the movie on the computer... The site is legal and secure, but now I want a DVD copy of this movie for myself

Well what format is this movie in?

          .avi
          .mpg
          .mpeg
          .wmv

Lets see what it is then see if it can be converted.
          Cheers!

"whether it is legal or not."

Read the Rules of these forums (Rule #6, in particular)...

Well I don't want to un assume anything here but I'm taking that this Media Content might be um... How should we call it.. Private Content Perhaps. Don't want to make a point out on picking on a user in any way but I'm kinda leaning to the fact that you might be a little unconfortable stating what the actual media content is. So Be It.

So lets just say that you downloaded from a pay site that gives you their own made movies and you want to convert it. So lets see what kind of "MEDIA" it is in terms of format and see what we can do to suggest on how to transfer it to a DVD+R.
              Cheers!

Well, let's clear this up.... I have bought a movie that plays on my computer, of which I have license to use it.... Now I would like to see it on my DVD player... I can't afford to be placed in a compromising situation. It is not worth it....

Back to my question... the format is being played on MAV

Thank-you for your concern about legalities.. I don't take it personally but could sure use your knowledge on this one.

So for instance your file name is movie.mav?

Trying to find info on .mav video format isn't turning up anything about such a A/V Format.

Open Media Player and look in Tools/Options/File Types and see what it says MAV is.

Based on the private ".MAV" format, it's apparent that your license is LIMITED to playback on your computer - and that you're not entitled (even if you could convert it) to convert it to DVD for playback elsewhere...
