    Sudden problem with ripping

This is my first post, but I would like to thank everyone here for all the info I have gained from just browsing.

I have run into my first problem with ripping/burning DVD's. I have made about 40 backups so far with little to no issue. My problem started when I attempted to make a copy of a copy (dodgeball). I would get I/O error. At first I thought nothing of it becuase I figured it had something to do with it being a copy.

When I got back from vacation I attempted to back up the last disk of band of brothers (the other 4 had already been backed up). I once again got the I/O error and once again figured it was the disk. I would keep getting the error at 88% at the same sector even when I was just ripping that one section. Next I attempted Apocalypes Now and once agian got the same error.

See attached image from band of brothers error.

I checked my DMA and it is on. I unistalled and reinstalled DVD decyptor and am getting pissed. Please help me.

Did the error with Apocalypse now ALSO happen at the 88% point. If so, your burner is probably at fault.

Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on it. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US. If that doesn't resolve your problem, it may be that the burner's laser is out of alignment...

I think it may be the drive, becuase it doesn't want to play movies either.

The good news is the computer is new so it is still under warrenty.

Sure sounds like that's the case...
