I'm trying to burn my first dvd using DVDshrink. The problem is that my dvd burner won't even play a dvd. It will read, play, and burn music cd's but it won't do anything with a dvd. It is a Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-832s. I tried updating the driver, it says it already has the updated driver. I tried to change the region(because none is specified, it is brand new). It won't let me change it. It says "Unable to update region setting. Please make sure the drive contains region 1 media and you have administrative privilege". What the heck? I know this is definately a dvd+- r/rw drive, it says it right on it. Any ideas? I am using a Compaq Presario SR1230nx. Thanks, this is driving me nuts!
Lite-on DVDRW SOHW832s not reading DVDs, help?

Check your jumper settings for a clash with another device?
Can you try it in a friend's computer before returning it?
