PAL to NTSC conversions??

I've got a Canadian DVD (that's in PAL format) that I bought that I want to convert to NTSC so I can play it on my US DVD players. Any idea on how to do this? Your help is much appreciated!! Right now I have DVD shrink 3.2 and nero 6 that I use regularly.

I have been exploring this area, and have found that if you only want to play your PAL DVD you can do so on an economical (cheap) DVD player, however if you need to be able to play it on something like a Sony DVD player, it will not play.

I have run a few tests and even if I remove the regional code with DVD Shrink, the new DVD will not play on the Sony DVD player.
The problem maybe because of the difference between PAL (25 frames/sec) and NTSC (27.97 frames/sec) and the Sony DVD player is not flexible enough to handle this problem.

On the other hand if you need to make a NTSC at 27.97 frames/sec then the question now becomes can DVD Shrink add the required frames or does a person need to use a program like Adobe Premier Pro to do the conversion, and then produce a new DVD

By the way NTSC is 29.97 frames per sec, my mistake.

Pal to NTSc

I had the same issue. Buy the cheapest dvd player. I had bought 29.95 Sears special Memorex and it solved all my problems. My $400 Sony plays only region 1 USA/Canda dvds only. Hope this helps

The problem is that when I take the DVD to my mother's home, she only has a Sony DVD player, and it is the bench mark that we have to deal with, she is not able to view the PAL-DVD.

I am not going to tell my mother to buy a cheap DVD player!

Is DVD Shrink the software to use for the conversion of PAL-DVD to NTSC-DVD?

Is this a region problem?

Why is DVD Shrink not capable of removing the Regional code when Region Free is selected?

Why when I am doing a backup the options under the tab of deep analysis etc are not selectable? Because it is PAL?

If you are all willing to convert your player to a multi region machine then i think you can search for a firmware hack for your DVD player for a mare £5 for the cost of the firmware.
