NTSC to PAL conversion when acquiring from VHS

Hi all, I dunno if this is the right place for ask about my problem, but I try anyway ...
I got 2 VHS tapes recorded in Japan (NTSC format) and I wanna convert them in PAL format. I've found some tools that can do the conversion, but the real problem is that my VHS player/recorder is PAL, so I cannot read the tapes, or at least not in a right way. Is there a tool that can get the bad signal from my PAL VHS reader, treat it as an NTSC signal and then record that on my PC in PAL version? (dunno if I made you understand me, hope so ).

welcome to the forum

no. no tool for what you have in mind (at least i haven't heard of one). it's not a "bad" signal, just ntsc (different standard). you still should be able to hear audio only.
ask a friend if their vid player supports ntsc playback.

Yeah, in fact I can ear the audio without not so many rumors (near perfectly), I only got video problems. Searchin' for a friend with an NTSC compliant player, hope I'll find someone

there will be other issues but, 1st find somebody with ntsc compliant vid player.

the vid players/recorders supporting both pal & ntsc usually only record the same signal as the one being put out. at least that was the case up to 5 or so years ago.
i gave up doing trying to do it that way but, surfed around & found that there are special adaptors that can be added to convert signals. then, they were big $

Probably cheaper to buy a PAL/NTSC player .. or two ..

maybe cheaper but, it still may not do the conversion.
i tried it. but the format (ntsc) was still copied as ntsc (even though i went throught the pal inputs).
basically, whatever signal goes out from the source, the copy will be in the same format
was kind of hoping that somebody had found a new vid player/recorder that actually did the conversion

just wanted to save the heartache of going through the troubles of obtaining pal/ntsc vid recorders, only to find that the conversion can't be done between them

no, the point I was making about the PAL/NTSC player was to remove the problem of converting. i.e. change the player, not the disc.

The point being:
compared to the cost of Canopus Procoder and the time involved converting NTSC to PAL ... it might be more cost effective to just buy and watch on a multistandard player?
