Software idea for you programmers out there

I wonder if it would be possible to make a program that lets you simply merge an srt. (subtitle) file and an avi. or divx. file? that would be very convenient.

Yeah that page is what gave me the idea. I am trying to follow the steps but subtitler doesnt wanna work for me. Maybe somebody can simplify it with algorithms and so forth, whatnot, and the like.

You should be able to use VirtualDub together with the VOBSub plugin/filter...

virtual dub gives me an error: couldnt load decompressor for div3 format. what does this mean?

What DivX codec(s) do you have installed?

the only filter i added is the vobsub subtitler.


I got the subtitles to sync together with the video, but when i converted it to dvd format, it didnt carry over the captioning.
Is there a way to permanantly add the words so it can be converted to divx format?

You have to download and install the DivX v.3.11 alpha codec...

i got the nimo codec package because i was under the impression it had what i needed, but i have no idea what to do with the codec even if i know which one it is
