How to make a laptop DVD player work with DVD's of all REGIONS

I would like to make sure that I understand how to make my laptop work with DVD's of ALL Regions.
1. Convert it to REGION FREE.
2. USE DVD Region Kill software

I am new to this, and from what I understood this is what I would need to do.
However, I have a few questions:

1. If I have a REGION FREE DVD why do I need to use DVD Region Kill.
2. What exactly does DVD Region Kill do.
3. Should I use another software besides Region Kill.

I would appreciate the input of someone who has gone thru this process and can help me understand it.

U can try smartRipper to rip your vob files and then u can check the case who says RegioFree (patch video_ts) in the Settings-> Files/Backup tab
and then hopelly i think it will be zone free
