Hello, apologies if this is posted in the wrong place but I thought it would 'belong' in here.
My problem is the similar one of not being able to get downloaded files onto a DVD.
After the computer letting me down on the first burn (2% in), I finally got a version copied on DVD...
With a few errors on Nero 6 (when I was burning) I didn't expect it to work at all, but I carried on non the less and when it was done I put it in the DVD player. The version I made wasn't that great to be honest, the best thing I can take from it is that the picture size is perfect. With a 'sticky' like motion when its playing and a 2 second delay with the audio of it, it's probably not the best DVD ever made. And even though expecting a slight lack of quality compared to Professional DVD's, this one I made wasn't acceptable, unfortunately.
Now, my real point. The DVD player I have is a Goodmans GDVD161DX (as named in title)...the thing I've noticed about it is the symbols that are on the front of it:
DIVX Video - KODAK Picture compatiable - Plays Windows Media
Now as you can probably tell from what I've said so far, I know very little about these sort of things, so I'll not pretend I know what I'm talking about here.
DIVX I am aware of, I'd imagine after buying (downloading) the films from the website, you can then put them onto a disc and the DVD player is able to show them.
Kodak is obviously for things like Slideshows and so on.
'Plays Windows Media' -- I'm not so sure about. Obviously it plays some sort of Media file, but is it just music (as I know the dvd player plays mp3's) or can it play movies that are put onto a disc (cd or dvd) that play in Media Player? That's the bit I'm not really sure about so if anyone could clear that up it would help.
I'm not really sure about the whole technique of "ripping, compressing and burning" and despite having gone through a good dozen "free" programs that were promising to sort my problem out, I'm still none the wiser.
The movie I'm trying to put onto a dvd is an AVI. file and I eventually thought I had got it working when I converted the AVI. file to 7 different files (that Nero needs) but as I said I've burned it and the results aren't great. I burned it at (1x) assuming that the results would be decent enough. But its un-watchable.
I know the question (how to put downloaded movie files onto dvd) is absolutely played out, but I was mainly wondering if my DVD player offered anything different (which it probably doesnt).
I've looked around for a 'Goodmans' website, but there doesn't seem to be one.
Sorry for making such a long post about nothing but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
