    Encoding!!

    You should look in your dvd manual and see if your dvd can play mpeg files!! Many who can't!!

      you cannot just put an mpeg on a disc.
      it needs to be in vcd format mpeg and then burned as a vcd with nero or similar.

        1) Once you've burned and finalized a CD-R it will always be "Read-only" - because you can no longer write to it. There's nothing wrong with the fact that it no loger is indicated to be "Archive".

        2) As johnbmx4christ said, you must create a VCD-format MPEG1, not merely an MPEG1-format file.

        3) Not all standalone players can play burned (as opposed to commercially created) VCDs - and those that CAN play them are many times very "finicky" about which brands of CD-R they will recognize. For information about the capabilities of your specific standalone player, go to:

        Video forums, video software downloads, guides, blu-ray players and media.

            To johnboy

            "i figured since you knew everything you would have commented on it."

            Actually, I've never explored that aspect of TMPGEnc - otherwise I certainly would have responded to your posting ;>}

              thks to all who helped. but how do i change my files into vcd-format MPEG1 files?? i used the TMPG Enc to change my files. when i click on properties, its type is "Movie File(MPEG)".
              pls help!
              oh BTW it is able to be played on my comp's dvd player. but no matter wat, it won't play on my dvd player in the hall. when i press play, it'll play and stop. and that's it! my dvd player outside is able to play MPEG files(i think) becos i went to "setup" and saw "MPEG Out" there were 2 choices "MPEG" & "MPEG->PCM" no matter which one i switch to, it wont work!!!!when i go to windows media player, and open D:\, my files r not in media files!! and my files are named as "music1, music2,music3" and so on..instead of "avesq01, avesq02" and so on.
