which dv camera should I get?

Anyone got a good cheap DV camera recommendation? I live in Australia & have been looking at getting a new camera. I would like to know the benefits of the new DVD style instead of tape. Also what is ccd? Sorry for the newbie questions, thanks for any help. I really wanted to spend the minimum amount possible, maybe $600-$800 Australian.

CCD is the chip that "grabs" the video and digitizes it. There are some notorious 2 CCD chip cams, which are (mostly) no better than a $25 webcam. Make sure you buy one that has 3 CCD, and image stabilization. Beyond those two things, everything else is up to what you want for options.

Well it came down to a choice between the Canon ZR200 & the Sony DCRHC30. From what I have read I think I will go the Sony, does anyone think I should go the Canon?
