    NTSC/PAL Question

    My question actualy has 2 or 3 seperate questions.

    I'll start with this one. Are Divx files subject to the same NTSC/PAL rules as other video formats?

    If so, is there a tool I can use to dertrmine which my file is? I have tried Gspot but didn't see it.

    If not, is there anything else that could be causing a "Playback Prohibited by Area Limitation " error when I try to play a DVD I made from the Divx file?

    I am using WinAVI to convert the file to DVD and trying to play it on a Sony DVP-CX985V. And if it makes a difference, both the Divx and the DVD play fine on my PC.

    PAL=25fps
    NTSC=23.976fps or 29.970fps

    You should be able to see this information in GSpot - as well as VirtualDub's (all versions) "File Information" (from "File" dropdown menu)...

        I didn't realize NTSC and PAL were just different frame rates.

        You have both been very helpful, thank you!
