    DIVX to DVD?

Is it possible to turn a DivX or avi file into a DVD? If so, would i need a DVD burner or would a CD-RW work? I'm new to this, so i'm sorry if i sound so stupid. Thanks for your time.

I wouldn't know a thing about making DVDs in the first place (as do most people in this forum). However, I am positive that you will need a DVD writer to make one. If you could do so with a CD-RW drive, everyone would have started doing that long ago.

There are four different types of dvd formats, not all of them work with the conventional stand alone dvd player. Your dvd writer, would contain a software package for authoring a dvd.

If you just want to play avis on your dvd player and you only have a cd burner, then just convert your avi to a vcd or svcd. Use TMPGenc - can get from download section. Make sure they're in the correct format ie NTSC and the resolution is correct, 480 x 480 for SVCD not sure for vcd .
