    Compressing avi????

    Hi !

I got a canon digital camera and i can take short clip with it and the camera record them in .avi format.

I can only view them with quick time player...i get no image with window media player?

    My question is...
i need to compress the clip....and i am not sure what program should i use?? I try to convert them in mpeg1 with media wizard and it says that "the selected file use a unsupported codec wich cannot be converted with this module"

here the detail of the file
    Audio format pcm,11024 hz,8bit,mono
    video format 320 x 240, 262 Frames, 20.000 Frames/Sec, 272 KB/Sec, Unknown Format

If anyone can give me a hand my this problem it be great!!

    Load the file into VirtualDub
From under the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"
Post ALL of the information you see

(You're probably using the Sorenson codec)

If you don't as yet have a DivX compression codec installed, download and install one (I prefer the earlier DivX v.3.11 alpha codec).

        Reboot your computer.

Then, once again load your .AVI file into VirtualDub.

Set "Video" to "Full Processing Mode" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying"

From the "Video" dropdown menu, click on "Compression" and select your DivX codec (Don't mess with the configuration, as the defaults should be fine)

From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI". Enter a new filename and click on "OK"

        Let us know of your success ;>}
