black and white play all of a sudden - HELP!

hi people i have been recently encountering a problem with all video playback on my pc. everything on it is displaying in color but whenever i try to play a video file it plays in black and white. this did not used to happen before but for the past few days or so nothing other the quicktime videos are playing in color.
when i hover over one of the video files in my documents the small thumbnail preview image of the beginning of the file appears in color. i don't know what the cause of this could be and would appreciate any help. i have winamp, realplayer and windows media player and the problem persists on all of those applications.

fuzzn, i'm not sure I know what the answer is...maybe saw some clues,... I did a search of the forum for your problem. There are some results for playing back in black and white here to get you started.

If your O/S is WinXP, perform a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly...

If that doesn't do it, check to see that your is securely seatted and that all connections are firm...
