        "winavi video converter" failed/not what you expected ...... could be due to a number of things (your hardware/software/settings).

        surf around. you're bound to find the one that suits your hardware/software configuration needs. there's lots out there

            that's one of the crapiest programs to use, and they even want money for it!

            tmpgenc all the way, if you want mpg-1 it's free!

              winavi isn't a very good program. Tmpgenc as stated above is free for mpeg 1 and a good choice.

                If you want to spend hours waiting for tmpenc to encode...
                If the final output is to be burned to dvdr, get VSO divx to dvd, then learn as much as you can, and read every guide, and download trials of every software.
