    Laptop won't see some dvds?

My new laptop a Microtel (AF31020), has been having problems seeing some Burned DVDs. any portable DVD player plays them and some other laptops see them and play them as well. Is this a problem with the drive or is it a software thing? I have a DVD +R -R RW not sure of the brand of drive, but I figured it should work? any help would be appriciated.

    Thanks guys.
