    Laptop as a monitor?

Is there a way to use my laptop to watch playbacks from my Digital video camera? Whats needed and whats involved? I can view as I capture to an editing program but I want to just watch the footage and then capture later if I want the footage. Just asking from someone thats not real smart about DV. Thanks Billy

I have a Digital Camcorder and i do the video capture on Windows XP. I don't know what is your configuration...
Most of the applications I’ve used to capture video displayed a camcorder control panel which allowed me to fast forward, rewind, and even play the video directly from the tape without capturing. All this was done from the PC - i didn't have to touch the camcorder.
I typically use Vegas or MS Movie Maker to capture movies. Movie Maker is free but can only run on Windows XP.

Alternatively, you can install a TV-in card to your laptop..
