    Dvd Trouble

I bought a dvd at the store and it plays fine on my home player but for some reason it doesn't get recognized on my comp dvd player. the reason this concerns me is i've had this problem before only the computer was the good player...
Is this a hardware problem or am i going to need a priest?

Are you opening your DVD player software and trying to play it from there, or are you waiting for autoplay to pick it up? I've had DVDs that when inserted into my DVD drive, don't start automatically or don't ask me what I want to do with the disc, but they work just fine when I open a player and run the disc from there.

More info from you, like your operating system, software you use to play DVDs, etc, it's hard to say.

it has only happened with this dvd and the reading was no disc...when played in my tv dvd it is fine...i can't even get that comp online right now due to "limited or no connectivity issues" so it just sits there for CP gaming. I do miss battlefield 2 play though. the specs are compac pres 5000 750 duron with a 128 gforce in it. 512 RAM. should run ok right? XP OS and SP@ installed

drives and standalones read differently, i say that disc is bad and ought to be returned for anew

If it's only this one dvd I would say you have a bad dvd. as columbo stated dvd players can at times be either more forgiving or less forgiving than dvd burners. try one of your friends/relatives dvd readers/burners on their pc
